About the Event
Davia Shapiro, Senior Teacher Naturalist, Cape Cod will be leading the 90 minute tour. We will meet him at the trailhead. Programs run in most weather conditions, and only thunder, lightening and heavy rain cancel programs. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes/sneakers, sunscreen and hat. Bringing water is also advised. There are no facilities on site, so please be ready before you arrive.
The Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary is home to more than 1,000 holly trees of 65 varieties. Additionally, the sanctuary has an eight-acre coastal plain pond, a globally rare natural community, which attracts over 30 species of dragonflies and various migratory birds, such as Barn Swallows and Baltimore Orioles who nest at the sanctuary annually.
